Community Rules

Last updated: March 16, 2026

Quake Modding is a community for game developers, modders, and enthusiasts. These rules apply to all areas of the site: the forum, shoutbox, comments, private messages, profile pages, file uploads, and tutorials.

1. Respect Other Members

  • Treat everyone with respect. Disagreements are fine; personal attacks, insults, and harassment are not.
  • No doxxing or sharing personal information of others without their consent.
  • No stalking, threats, or intimidation of any kind.

2. Keep Content Appropriate

  • No pornographic, sexually explicit, or excessively gory content.
  • No content promoting violence, terrorism, self-harm, or illegal activities.
  • Gore in the context of game development (e.g. game screenshots, mod showcases) is acceptable as long as it is relevant and not gratuitous.
  • Use English in public areas so moderators can review content. Other languages are allowed in private messages.

3. No Spam or Self-Promotion Abuse

  • Do not post the same message repeatedly across different sections.
  • Do not flood the shoutbox or forum with rapid successive messages.
  • Sharing your own projects (mods, tools, games) is welcome, but every post should not be an advertisement. Contribute to discussions, not just promote.
  • No affiliate links, referral schemes, cryptocurrency promotions, or scams.

4. Forum and Discussion Guidelines

  • Post in the correct forum category. Off-topic posts may be moved or removed.
  • Use descriptive thread titles. "Help me" or "Problem" without context makes it harder for others to assist you.
  • Search before posting. Your question may have already been answered.
  • Do not bump threads without adding meaningful content.
  • Do not hijack someone else's thread with an unrelated question — create your own.

5. File Uploads and Sharing

  • Only upload content you have created or have permission to distribute.
  • Always credit the original author if you are sharing modified or derivative work.
  • Do not upload malware, viruses, trojans, or any other malicious files.
  • Do not upload pirated games, cracked software, or copyrighted material you do not have rights to share.
  • Include a description of what your file does and how to use it.

6. Tutorials and Documentation

  • Tutorials should be accurate, tested, and clearly written.
  • Credit your sources. If your tutorial is based on someone else's work, link to the original.
  • If you find errors in existing tutorials, report them or suggest corrections rather than posting complaints.

7. Accounts and Identity

  • One account per person. Alt accounts are not allowed.
  • Do not impersonate other users, moderators, or administrators.
  • Do not share your account credentials with others.
  • Do not use offensive or inappropriate usernames or profile images.

8. Security and Exploits

  • If you discover a security vulnerability on the site, report it privately to the administrator. Do not exploit it or disclose it publicly.
  • Do not attempt to access other accounts, private messages, or personal data.
  • Do not attempt SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, or any other attack against the site.
  • Sharing game engine exploits for modding and development purposes is allowed. Sharing exploits designed to harm multiplayer servers or other users is not.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

Moderators and administrators enforce these rules at their discretion. Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, consequences may include:

  • Warning — a private or public notice about the violation.
  • Content removal — offending posts, comments, or files will be deleted.
  • Temporary suspension — account access restricted for a period of time.
  • Permanent ban — account permanently disabled for serious or repeated violations.

If you believe a moderation action was unfair, you may appeal by contacting the administrator directly.

10. Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these rules, please report it to the administrator:

Do not engage with rule-breakers publicly. Report and let the moderators handle it.
