Microsoft has released Xbox Mode for Windows 11, turning PCs into gaming consoles. The feature, now rolling out in North America, the UK, Western Europe, Japan and Australia, offers a full‑screen interface inspired by the Xbox Series X|S. Navigation is optimized for gamepads, with the Xbox button opening a quick‑access panel. The mode reduces background Windows processes, freeing up to 2 GB of RAM for games, and lets users switch between Xbox Mode and the regular desktop. It consolidates game libraries from multiple Windows PC stores and Xbox Game Pass into a single interface, and can be accessed via the Xbox app, Game Bar or Win + F11. The update is delivered through Windows Update as part KB 5083631 and is optional. Remaining regions will receive the feature in May‑June 2026.
