Microsoft Launches Xbox Mode for Windows

Microsoft has released Xbox Mode for Windows 11, turning PCs into gaming consoles. The feature, now rolling out in North America, the UK, Western Europe, Japan and Australia, offers a full‑screen interface inspired by the Xbox Series X|S. Navigation is optimized for gamepads, with the Xbox button opening a quick‑access panel. The mode reduces background Windows processes, freeing up to 2 GB of RAM for games, and lets users switch between Xbox Mode and the regular desktop. It consolidates game libraries from multiple Windows PC stores and Xbox Game Pass into a single interface, and can be accessed via the Xbox app, Game Bar or Win + F11.
