The recently released Thrill EX is the first mod that lets you play through the early version of Half‑Life Alpha from start to finish.The original Thrill mod, released 31 December 2025, was deleted by its developer who has since vanished. The source code was made open‑source, enabling a community fork.
Thrill EX is a semi‑official fork maintained by former contributors. Version 1.0 offers bug fixes, more intuitive level design, customization options, new and fixed assets, and overall quality‑of‑life improvements.
